Virgil Donald Heathman
Virgil Donald Heathman, 87, of Yorktown passed away at home on Monday, September 13, 2021. He was a native of Bemidji, Minnesota and after retirement, lived in Yorktown. Virgil worked in the wholesale grocery industry his entire life and retired from Brenham Wholesale Grocery Supply. He was of the Lutheran faith and served on numerous community boards and church committees.
He was outgoing, never met a stranger. He loved to play cards almost up to the end of his life. Virgil loved every sport known to man but especially loved watching and cheering his grandchildren in basketball and softball. He was a loving husband, father, and PapaDon.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Vigil Gould Heathman and Dorothy M. Heathman, and his grandson, Andrew Heathman. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen K. Heathman; daughter, Tammy Witt (James); son, Donald Ray Heathman; five grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, Megan, Sarah, and Matthew (Leah); four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Kay Heggie (Butch); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
