Vernie Colon Taylor passed away on June 1, 2022, at the age of 88. Vernie was born in Scotland County, North Carolina on August 21, 1933, to Gladys and Roy Taylor. Vernie was a graduate of the University of Alabama and served in the United State Air Force. He retired from the department of the Army as a Civil Engineer. Vernie was a long-time member of Menchville Baptist Church where he served faithfully as an usher and a member of the finance committee.

Vernie was preceded in death by his wife Jennie P. Taylor. Surviving family members include his daughter Teresa Milby and her husband Tommy, his son Timothy Taylor and his wife Rhonda, and grandchildren Tracy Crowder and her husband Jay, Travis Milby, Piper Taylor, and Logan Taylor. He is survived by his brothers Grady Taylor and his wife Betty, Mitchell Taylor and his wife Jeanette, and sisters Dorothy Taylor and Dean Smith.

The family will receive friends at Menchville Baptist Church on Monday, June 6 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the church starting at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery.
