Timothy “Timmy” Scott Provo

Timothy “Timmy” Scott Provo departed this life on December 26, 2022. Timmy was born October 11, 1958 to Patricia and James Provo in Newport News, VA where he spent most of his life. As a teen, he was a daredevil who loved dirt bike racing. That love of speed progressed into a passion for NASCAR (slammin’ and bammin’). As Timmy got older, he was determined to make positive changes and turn his life around. He became active in AA and made numerous friends. These friends were one of the reasons Timmy was so successful in his quest to remain sober. Another major influence in his sobriety was the community at Menchville Baptist Church. They were instrumental in lifting him up through his lowest moments. Throughout all his highs and lows, the greatest source of pride and joy for Timmy was his son Christopher and grandson Noah. Noah and “Peepaw” spent many days at the dirt track in Saluda, watching deer in Yorktown, or going to Bristol for NASCAR. Timmy is preceded in death by his father James. He is survived by his mother Patricia, siblings Dawn, Stuart (Pat) & Leslie, son Christopher, daughter-in-law Megan, grandson Noah, nephew Daniel, niece Jennifer, great niece Willow, and numerous aunts and uncles.

The celebration of life will be held at Menchville Baptist Church on Monday, January 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 248 Menchville Rd, Newport News, VA 23602.  Memorial contributions may be made to Menchville Baptist Church in Timmy’s honor in lieu of sending flowers.

Timmy will be greatly missed by all those who loved him and knew him. He was always smiling and always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. He is my son’s father and my friend. We were blessed to all spend Thanksgiving with him. He was smiling and laughing and enjoying being with family. He loved Chris, Noah and the rest of the family and they loved him. They had many wonderful day’s together. He believed in God and was active in his church. Everyone knew by his actions that he loved God and always tried to do his very best. I sure will miss you my friend.

Heartfelt condolences for the Provo Family as you grapple with the loss of your Tim. He was loved by so many for his passion and genuine care. If I could, I would bring a time when your happy memories of him are stronger than your sadness from his passing. God Bless you.

I had the pleasure of knowing Tim for well over 20 years. He was not only a good friend, but an extremely good and fair -minded (and often generous) plumber. I know he will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. May God bless you, Tim. I know He was glad to welcome you home.

I am so sad to learn of Timmy’s passing. My mom and dad spoke of him often and with great affection. Sending prayers of peace to the family.

Unfortunately it’s been over a year since Timmmy passed away. I only found out because I sent a Christmas card to him in 2023 and his sister Leslie let me know that he was gone. I am so very sorry for everyone’s loss. Including my own. I loved him and so did my brother Kirk . Well, they’re together now!
