Theodore “Teddy” Binder, age 94, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021, at home with his loving family by his side.  Born in Newport News, Virginia on September 28, 1926, he was a lifelong resident of the peninsula and member of Adath Jeshurun Synagogue.  He moved to Williamsburg, Virginia in 1993.  Teddy served in World War II in Okinawa and the occupation of Japan.  He attended the Newport News Apprentice School, began his gas station business in Newport News for over 30 years, and then retired from Tenneco, Inc. Shipyard.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Violet Binder, his parents Israel and Rose Binder, five brothers, Jake, Charles, Harry, Sam, and William, and a sister, Lena – Teddy was the baby.  He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted daughter, Mona Fields (Michael), granddaughter, Amanda (Mandi) Shomada (William), son, Irvin Binder, and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Teddy’s smile lit up the room.  He was a hard worker, a loving father, and caring Pop Pop, always there for you no matter what.

The family would like to thank his caregivers Celine (such a blessing), Sister Mary, and Terezita (Terry) for being part of our family.
Due to COVID-19, there will be a private service.   In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to a charity of your choice.
