Sandra Ponton Beason, 61, of Smithfield, passed away on March 21, 2022.

She was born on August 21, 1960, in Anne Arundel, Maryland. Sandy graduated from Petersburg High School in 1978 and attended Richard Bland College. She married David Beason in April 1989, and they lived together in Smithfield for 33 years. She loved family gatherings, baking desserts, and giving gifts to others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Aina Ponton, and her brother, Ronald Ponton. Sandy is survived by her husband David; three children: James of Williamsburg, David (Erin) of Fayetteville, Markie of Smithfield; three grandchildren: Layla, Zane, and Virginia; and three brothers: Henry of Urbanna, Robert (Marian) of Williamsburg, and Donald (Tamara) of Chester.

The family extends their thanks and gratitude to all the doctors and medical staff who supported Sandy in her times of need.

A memorial service will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Smithfield, VA on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Floral arrangements may be delivered directly to the church.
