It Takes a Family to Comfort a Family
Robert F. Ward, Jr.
Robert F. Ward, Jr. left his earthly home on Friday, June 11, 2021, just two short days after his 95th birthday on June 9. He was born in Hertford, North Carolina into a family of 10 children, all of whom have preceded him in death.
After leaving North Carolina with his mother, he moved to Newport News, and soon after he joined the U.S. Army where he served two years during WW2. He then moved on to civil service at Fort Eustis as a Heavy Equipment Inspector. Robert was a member of American Legion Post #25 for many years.
Robert married the love of his life, Edna Ward and they were married 57 years until her death in 2005 from cancer. He is survived by his son, Rodney L. Ward, and daughter, Ann M. Armstrong; granddaughter, Melissa A. Armstrong; two great-grandsons, Tyler Davis and Jeff Pierce; special friend, Barbara Roussel; and nieces, nephews, and good friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 16 from 11:00 to 12:00 at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Chaplain Roger Allen. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
