Robert “Bob” H. Walker, 80 of Yorktown, VA passed away on July 26, 2022, of natural causes in his home. Bob was a native of Newport News, VA, and graduated from Newport News High School in 1960. He served in the Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970. Bob worked for Newport News Shipbuilding & Northrop Grumman Newport News for 44 years.
He was a charter member of Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church. Active in the church throughout his life, he served as an usher for many years, served on numerous committees, and helped build structures and make repairs to the church. The church was the center of much of his social and family life, and the beneficiary of many of his talents. His faith and church family were always of extreme importance to him.
Bob enjoyed many years of an eventful retirement. Affectionately called “Bob-Bob” by his grandchildren, he delighted in spending time with his loving wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He also enjoyed spending time on his boat, planning trips, playing cards, and watching sports. With two daughters who are alumnae of the University of Virginia, he was a big fan of Virginia basketball and football. Bob was very handy and often used his talents to fix and build things around the house, and help his extended family, friends, and neighbors when they needed help with all kinds of repairs. He was a gadget enthusiast and always researched thoroughly to find the highest quality for the best price – another talent that his family and friends frequently depended on.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Amos and Lois Walker. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth (Beth) Jones Walker; daughters Diane Walker Gravenstine (Gregg) and Lisa Walker Delgado (Matt); five grandchildren, Dillon, Max, Grace, Ruby & Walker; brothers William (Ruth) and James (Jaqueita); nephews, Edward (Sharon) and Mark (Susan); and niece Debra Walker Costa (Grant).

Sometimes memories are all we have to cherish. I remember playing swiffle ball and kick ball with Bob and Jimmy in Stuart Gardens. What a wonderful time we had, and what lifetime friendships endured. God bless and give this family comfort.
A great and true obituary.
My heartfelt, heartfelt sympathy to all of the Walker Families, Bill, Bob and Jim. Jim and I are Newport News High School Class of ’62 classmates and through Jim I grew to know Bob and Bill. A wonderful family. Bob’s obituary is a wonderful tribute to him.
God Bless him and I feel so Blessed to have had been part of the Walker Family over the many years.
A life well lived, makes so many wonderful memories that carry forward. And so it is with Bob. He has enriched the lives of so many. From the obituary, it is obvious he was loved by a wonderful family and friends. I was fortunate to have spent time with Bob. Water skilling in Gloucester, humor, and just hanging out. It is the subtle things that often matter the most in the long run. Bob will be remembered and missed. Condolences to Jimmy, Bill(whom I met only once) and family. Larry Crum
