Raymond “Berry” Drinkard

On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Raymond “Berry” Drinkard, loving husband, father, and friend passed away at home with his wife and daughters by his side at the age of 57.  His battle with lung cancer, since October 2020, showed his perseverance in facing life challenges with jokes and a smile. Despite the pain, Berry came out as a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Berry was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Edward Drinkard, and his son-in-law, Cody Lee Brewton.  He is survived by his wife Carrie;  two daughters, Dezaray Brewton and Celina Raye Drinkard; mother, Carol Sparrow (Lynn); two sisters, Cindy Brunner (Barry), and Angie Crisson; several nieces and nephews; and his Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Kendra.

Berry was a Machine Specialist C at Canon Virginia in Newport News for 14 years.  He was not only a hard worker but a mentor to his co-workers and always went above and beyond for his company.  Berry had a passion for fixing things and learning new trades which allowed him to be a good provider for his family.

Due to COVID precautions, a private Memorial Service will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home on Saturday, January 23, at 3:00 p.m., and guests are invited to participate in the service through live streaming (www.peninsulafuneralhome.com/video).  Facial masks and social distancing will be required.
