Pauline Boone Brown

Pauline Boone Brown, 104, of Newport News, Virginia passed peacefully to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, November 30 surrounded by her family.  She was affectionately known to all as Mamaw. Mamaw was born on October 8, 1918 in Roan Mountain, Tennessee to the late Hector Boone and Eugenia Julian Boone.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Brown, and her daughter, Barbara Brown Beck. She is survived by her children Betty Brown Snyder, Robert L. Brown, Jr. (Rita), Margaret Brown Hudnall (Billy) and grandchildren Bill, Rick and Trip Snyder, Steve, Barry and Lance Beck, Cheryl England, Lisa Deanhofer, and Gina Taylor. In addition, she was blessed with 17 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church. As a deaf mute for most of her life, she required assistance during church services. For many years, her good friend Rose Hall provided those services for her and continued to visit her long after she could no longer attend services.

Mamaw enjoyed spending time with family.  She loved to attend all of her grandchildren’s sporting events. For many years, she enjoyed going out to lunch and shopping with her daughters and granddaughters which she did up until the very end.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to her caregiver, Marie Hydrick, for her tender loving care of Mamaw.  She always made sure that Mamaw felt beautiful and loved.

If you knew Mamaw, you loved Mamaw and she loved you.  She will be greatly missed by all of us.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 6 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 2739 Hampton Highway, Yorktown Virginia.  The funeral service will be at 2:00pm also at Central Baptist Church with interment at Peninsula Memorial Park following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church.

I remember visiting her home as a child, you could feel her gentleness and see her kindness. I can still picture her livingroom in my mind 65 yrs later. My heart breaks for her children and all her extended family.

Bob, Linsey and all your family, I know you will miss her deeply. I am so glad I got to see her on her birthday at Surf Rider. My Mother shared so many memories of growing up with your sisters. You were so blessed to have her for so many years but it’s never long enough. Holding you all in my prayers. Neda Baxter
