Patsy Ann Allen

Patsy Ann Allen, 74, of Newport News, VA passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

She was born in Danville, VA, on November 9, 1948, to the late Lawrence M. and Lucy A. Shelton.

Patsy was married for 45 years to the man of her life, Walter “Spook” T. Allen, Jr. They met on her first job at Shoney’s. She knew when she first glanced at him sitting on a bar stool, that he was the man she would spend the rest of her life with.

Patsy and Walter owned and operated Beacondsdale Red Barn. She was seen early in the morning making breakfast and greeting customers with a smile. Just as Patsy met Walter at her first job, they retired together at her last job. After retirement, Patsy spent her remaining years with her grandchildren. The grandchildren were the joy of her life and always kept her on her toes. After living in Newport News, VA for years, she moved to West Point to be closer to her loving son and precious grandchildren.

Patsy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Allen, Jr.; father and mother, Lawrence and Lucy Shelton; daughter, Lavonne A. Locklear; and two infant sons. Now she is back in their arms and spending eternity together.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted son, Michael T. Allen (Jessie); four grandchildren, Travis, Tehya, Mackenzie, Amzie; a loving sister, Angel A. Wood; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished, and she will be missed.

Words can’t express the love and admiration I had for you. The weekends at your house, our fun trips all of the laughing we did till our sides hurt. Taking care of you whenever you needed me too. I will miss our talks and our cries..I love you…
