Norma Ruth Worley, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.  Born and raised in Bristol, Virginia, she had been a resident of Newport News since 1971.  Norma retired from Hardee’s after 20-plus years.  She was a member of Harbor Baptist Church, Hampton, Virginia.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Fred A. Worley, and her grandson, Jonathan R. Terrill.  She is survived by her three children, Telisa Holcomb and her husband Glen, Freddy Worley II and Brad Worley and his wife Tricia; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild on the way; three sisters; and one brother.

She will also be greatly missed by her extended loving family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Soni, Dr. Lavender, and the hospice staff for all their wonderful care.

A graveside service, officiated by Rev. C.J. Prather, will be held on Tuesday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. in Peninsula Memorial Park.

One of Norma’s favorite bible verses was Proverbs 31:25: “Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.”

We are so sorry for your loss. We speak of you guys often with fond memories. You may not remember us, but we were the Massenburg’s (Herbert, Gloria, Patrick, Garcia (now deceased) and Saleda) who lived in Stuart Gardens with you guys. May God keep you and the extended family in his care.

    To my granny
You will always be my granny
    No matter wherever you go
    No matter years that pass
Or how big and tall I grow
Me and you will never be apart
You will always be in my heart

The magic of a granny’s touch
    There’s magic in a granny’s touch
    And sunshine in her smile
There’s love in everything she does
    To make our lives worthwhile
We can find both hope and courage
Just by looking in her eyes
Her laughter is a source of joy
Her words are warm and wise
There is a kindness and compassion
To be found in her embrace
And we see the light of heaven
    Shinning from a granny’s face
