Nancy S. Becouvarakis

Nancy S. Becouvarakis passed from death into eternal life on Jan. 8, 2022 at the age of 86.  Nancy grew up in Radford, VA where she attended Radford High School.  After graduation she attended Radford College for one year and transferred to Richmond Professional Institute (RPI) where she met her husband John Becouvarakis who was attending Randolf-Macon College.  After they were married, she taught for three years at Langley View Elementary School in Hampton, VA before starting a family.  She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, who will always be treasured for her guidance and strong faith in Jesus Christ.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Bellamy Smyth and Virginia Evans Dudley Smyth, and her husband, Johnny. 

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Becouvarakis; son, John Becouvarakis and his wife Lea; five grandchildren, Samantha, Mary, Ben and his wife Stephanie, Matthew his wife Lily and their daughter Nina, and Sarah and her husband Michael Landon and their son Rhett; brother, Charles “Pete” Smyth and his wife Lallah; and nephews, Charles Smyth and Steven Smyth.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at St. Rose of Lima and Korean Martyrs Parish in Hampton, followed with a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Hyo Sung Ahn (Simon).  Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.

    Lisa, please call me again. I did not get to talk with you long enough. Nancy was the sister to I never had. So much of my childhood was with her. She took me to movies and we played dolls and dress up.
