Harry served in the United States Navy and later went to work for Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co, where he started as a sheet metal worker and was later promoted to supervisor. After 41 years with the NNSB, he retired in 1993. He was a volunteer with Riverside Regional Medical Center for 24 years where he enjoyed his work and the socialization with many wonderful people he met. Up until his death, he was still driving the golf cart taking visitors to their destinations. Harry enjoyed golf and was a member of the Peninsula Retired Men’s Club. He was an avid craftsman and woodworking was his favorite pastime. He enjoyed reading and gardening, and he especially enjoyed sharing his vegetables with his neighbors and family members.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents John Wallace and Rosanna Berry Firth, his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy M. Firth, and two grandsons Steven Lee and Donald Rogers Fendrick. He is survived by his daughters Vonda Firth Dubey (Paul) and Valerie Firth Fendrick (Mark) and the joys of his life, granddaughters Rachel Savannah and Alexis Taylor Fendrick.
