Micheal Richard Tam

Micheal Richard Tam, 72, passed away suddenly on December 11, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Andi; sister, Christine Dodson; daughter, Nicole Wyers; grandsons, Zac, Jacob, Nathan, Cooper and Chase; and nieces, Holly Hawley, Shannon Makocki and Delaney Dodson.

Mr. Tam retired from the United States Navy in 1993 as a Master Chief Hospital Corpsman. He enlisted at the age of 17 and soon after went to Vietnam to serve with the Marines of Hotel 2/7. His close relationship with those men lasted the rest of his life. He was awarded the Silver Star for valor during this time. He served on ships, at overseas duty stations, and on the east coast at hospitals and medical clinics. He retired as the Command Master Chief of the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth.

Mr. Tam kept close ties with his many friends from school and the military. He was a loyal friend to many people. He was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law, father, grandfather, and uncle. In his final years he devoted himself to his family who he loved fiercely. He helped them grow into the best versions of themselves and they filled his life with pride, joy and love.

Funeral services and burial will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors.  Due to COVID restrictions, facial masks and social distancing will be required.
