It Takes a Family to Comfort a Family
Melissa “Missy” Ross Bayne Oliver
Melissa “Missy” Ross Bayne Oliver, 58, of Williamsburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at her brother’s home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Missy was born and raised in Newport News, Virginia, graduated from Menchville High School in 1982 and Riverside School of Radiology Technology in 1984. After working several years as a radiologist technologist, she made a career change. Missy was employed by Fairfield/Wyndham Resorts where she rose to the position of Property Manager at Governor’s Green Resort.
Over the past 14 years, Missy served as a collection specialist for Credit Control Corporation. Her dedication to the company and co-workers was evident as she pushed herself to work while undergoing months of cancer treatment.
Missy was preceded in death by her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Bayne, Sr. She leaves behind one daughter, Shelby Ross Oliver. Her greatest joy in life was being a “Noni” to her three grandchildren – Khloe, MaKenna, and Hendrix. Missy is survived by her brother, Jimmy Bayne, and sister, Cheryl Bayne, sister-in-law, Jodie Bayne, nieces – Jessie Bayne McDougal (Ryan) and Hunter Bayne (fiancé Matt Cawley), and great-niece, Sawyer McDougal.
Missy’s infectious smile and her meaningful hugs will be a lasting gift and comforting memory.
