Mary Amelia “Millie” Dennis

Mary Amelia “Millie” Dennis, 79, beloved wife and mother completed her earthly journey on November 18, 2021, and is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Millie was from Punxsutawney, PA, and worked as a registered nurse in her early years. After moving to Hampton in 1964, Millie participated in many volunteer positions at several churches including Memorial Baptist and West Hampton Baptist.

She was a member of West Hampton for 53 years and loved serving in many capacities and the fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She was proud of having served 25 years as Office Manager at West Hampton, retiring in 2011. Always supportive and willing to help, Millie had a great sense of recall and loved trivia games. She was a fan of the Washington Nationals, volunteered with AARP Tax-aide, and enjoyed “the Friday Night Rook Group.”

Millie is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Floyd; son Scott (Pinky); daughters, Diane (boyfriend Ted), and Sandra (fiancé’ Kevin); grandchildren, Tyler (Dakotah), Bailey, Shelby, Becky; and great-grandchildren, Kimberleigh and Victoria. She is also survived by brother Tony (Dodi), and sisters Loraine and Judie.

A home-going celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at West Hampton Baptist Church, 631 Aberdeen Road, Hampton, VA. A visitation will follow the service. The CDC highly recommends masks for inside gatherings.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
