Marshall “Butch” Cooke, 62,  passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021, in Riverside Hospital.  Butch was a native of Richmond but had been a resident of Newport News for over 21 years.  

In addition to being a loving father, brother, and good friend, Butch was a down-to-earth, funny guy who loved jokes.  He made quite an impression on people.  Butch had a love for trucks, fast cars, and motorcycles.  He also deeply loved dogs, as Axle and Checkers could tell you.  He will be greatly missed by all the people whose lives he impacted.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Honeycutt, father, Marshall Cooke, Sr., sister, Cathy Jones, and dear friend, Michael Garner.  He is survived by his daughter, Cheyenne Cooke; two sisters, Carolyn Dyson and Georgia Swigert; three brothers, Bruce Cooke, Sr. (Kim), Bobby Patterson and Mike Cooke; numerous nieces and nephews; his four-legged friends, Axle and Checkers; extended Pete’s Custom Auto family; former wife and dear friend, Angela Goodson; and dear friends, Arthur “Fatboy” Goodson and Cameron “Travis” Martin.

The family would like to thank the Riverside Cardiac unit, the Surgical ICU team and a special thanks to Nurse Celina.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Pete’s Custom Auto Service, 10165 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA 23605.
