Margaret Tallon Parker

Margaret Tallon Parker died peacefully at her home in Yorktown on December 25, 2020, suffering from the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born September 14, 1948 in Chelan, WA, to Leslie and June Tallon. She grew up in and around various communities in the eastern Cascades Mountains. Her fondest childhood memories were in Holden with her sisters. In 1964, her father passed away and her mother moved the family to Seattle to raise 4 children. She graduated high school, attended community college, and worked for Yellow Pages for a few years, where she was known as ‘The Whip’ for getting her co-workers motivated.

In 1969, she met a young sailor assigned to USS Seattle who would change her life forever. She married ‘Skip’ Parker on Valentine’s Day, 1970, and said goodbye to the west coast forever. She worked briefly for Gwaltney’s in Smithfield as a lab technician. In later years she worked for the Naval Mine Warfare Engineering Activity in Yorktown and finally at the Social Security Administration in Newport News. She retired in 2010.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Clifford ‘Skip’ Parker, their daughter Leslie Mastropaolo and her husband, Kevin, and grandchildren Megan, Jillian, and Nicholas; their son Cliff and his wife Elizabeth, and grandchildren Logan and Lilliana and Marley; her sister Susan and her husband, Clark of Bonney Lake, WA; and her sister Kathy and her husband, Gary of Modesto, CA.

Margaret’s family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to our Riverside Hospice family for their continuing love and support and especially Dannielle, Heather and Shanelle. The loving care provided by these earthly angels is best described by the following:

What we do for ourselves dies with us
What we do for others remains and is immortal
