Larry Steven Morris

Larry Steven Morris, 70, of Newport News, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at home, surrounded by his family, who he loved deeply. He was born October 9, 1950, in Lexington, VA, and was a 1968 graduate of Newport News High School.

Steve retired from the Trades Quality Department at Newport News Shipbuilding in 2012, where his sharp intellect and sense of humor endeared him to many.  While at the shipyard, he earned his MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology.

In his free time, Steve loved spending time with his family, playing poker, golf, and being with his lifelong friends, the “Hog” boys.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Otho W. and Emily Lucille Morris, and brother, Charles “Butch” Morris.  He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sharon Creech Morris; children, Patrick Morris (Lydia) and Adam Morris; sisters-in-law, Wilma Morris and Sandra Hollister; and his beloved pups Augie, Clancy, and Gracie.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Peninsula SPCA, www.peninsulaspca.org.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.

    Kathy and I are sorry to hear of your lose. He will be remembered as the man full of life and a great member of the Newport News Shipbuilding family.
