Kwang Yo Peters

Kwang Yo Peters, 67, went home to finally be with her Lord on Saturday, November 13, 2021. She was surrounded by her family as she entered into rest.

Kwang Yo Peters (maiden name Kim Kwang Yo) was born on February 19, 1954, in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, the daughter of Kim Il Ho and Lee Kyung Sil.

Kwang Yo was married to Michael Allen Peters of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, for 32 years before his passing in 2011.

She worked as the Administrator of Peninsula Korean Baptist Church for over 20 years. She was also an active member of the church and served as the pianist and organist for many years. She was a devoted member of the choir and served regularly with local and international missions groups. She particularly enjoyed serving the church youth.

She was a skilled gardener, a creative artist, and a gifted musician among countless other talents.

In addition to her parents and two siblings in Korea, she is predeceased by her husband Michael Peters. She is survived by her daughters, Alisa Yang and her husband Truth, and Diane Nou and her husband Tee; four grandchildren, Noelle, Hudson, Moriah and Sydney; six sisters in South Korea; and many nieces and nephews.

A farewell service and burial will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Peninsula Korean Baptist Church and Garden of Eden, 972 Harpersville Road, Newport News, Virginia.
