Karen S. Beissner

Karen S. Beissner passed away on October 28, 2022, in Newport News. She was born on August 27, 1940, in Columbus, Kansas. Karen’s first job was at the Boeing Company in Wichita, Kansas where she had some funny and interesting stories to tell about her time there. When she and her husband Fred moved to Virginia, she worked for Wyle Labs. Karen was a great friend, loving stepmother, aunt, and grandmother. She was a talented woman who loved people and was concerned for the welfare of others. Karen was a Newport News Women’s club member and drove for many years with Meals on Wheels. She was also an accomplished seamstress, artist, and potter, and loved hosting dinner parties for friends and neighbors. Karen was a great storyteller of family outings with her stepchildren and get-togethers with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Fred, her parents, two sisters, and a niece.

She is survived by stepsons; Kenneth, Mark, and Trey Beissner; stepdaughter, Sherri Beissner, daughter-in-law Sonia Beissner, and several grandchildren.

Karen donated her body to the Anatomical Society of Virginia and will rest beside her husband, Fred, in San Antonio, TX. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the Peninsula SPCA.
