Louzette Holt Jones

Louzette Holt Jones, 77, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2022. She was a faithful wife, devoted mother, grandmother (known as Nanny), and a cherished friend to many. Louzette was born on May 28, 1944 in Hampton, Virginia. She was a proud “Hampton Crabber. She had a long career in telecommunication, starting as a switch operator for C&P Telephone Company and retiring from Verizon as a Directory Assistant. Louzette loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. There wasn’t a holiday that went by where she didn’t send her grandchildren a card. She enjoyed spending time on the water at Lake Gaston, gambling trips to Dover Downs with friends, playing cards with her sisters-in-law, and shooting pool at the local pool hall. She was a devoted Washington Redskins fan and loved her many cats.

Louzette is preceded in death by her parents, and brother Billy Holt. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Coy Duke Jones, Jr.; children, Coy Jones III, and Karen Ryan and husband John; grandchildren, Jillian Keesee, and Taylor and Nickel Ryan.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
