Ja Hae “Mona” So, 69, passed away on March 18, 2021.  She was born in South Korea and was a resident of Hampton Roads for many years.  Mona immigrated to the area in 1985 and opened Mona Korean Restaurant in 1999.  She was active in the Korean community, and enjoyed bringing smiles to people through her cooking.

Mona is survived by her husband, Su Chol Seo; daughters, Aeri Jai and Mira Lanexang; and grandchildren, Harper and Lincoln Lanexang.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., in Newport News.  Livestreaming will be available at www.peninsulafuneralhome.com/video.  Guests are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
