Harold Levinson

Harold Levinson, age 95, passed away January 9, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side. He was a lifelong resident of the peninsula and life member of Adath Jeshurun Synagogue. He was born in Newport News and graduated Newport News High School in 1943 where he played in the band as a drummer. He loved his music, so after high school he played in bands touring the states with the big swing bands. Eventually he came back to Newport News and became a merchant and opened up an appliance store on Jefferson Avenue. Later he started to invest in real estate which he pursued until 2020. His second love was sportfishing which he did until age 94. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who delighted in sharing his advice to his family, especially his granddaughters who affectionately called him “Papa”.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Bessie Levinson, two brothers, J Leonard Levinson and Robert Levinson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Terry, devoted son Tony Levinson (Amy), granddaughters Lauren and Alyssa Levinson, numerous nieces and nephews and Wayne Gousse who was like a son to him.

We would like to thank his caregivers Christina and Kiyana with Hospice and Tina with Amada Senior Care whom were all a blessing.

Arrangements entrusted to Peninsula Funeral Home. There will be a private service due to covid-19. In lieu of flowers, you can donate to a charity of your choice.
