Glenn Carlisle Banks

Glenn Carlisle Banks of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at the age of 79. He was born on December 8, 1941, in Greenwood County, South Carolina to the late Lawton Carlisle Banks and Rosalie Etheridge Banks.  Glenn graduated from Greenwood High School and Lander College and served in the U.S. Army.

He started his career in Accounting with Dow Chemical Company in Anderson, South Carolina, and later in Freeport, Texas.  He continued his career with Badische Corporation and retired from BASF Corporation, Williamsburg, VA.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Norma J. Banks; two sons, Randall C. Banks (Stephanie) and Steven B. Banks (Kim); stepdaughter, Emily G. Pirzadeh (Nima); four grandchildren, Helena Banks, Parker Banks, Lilly Banks, and Chandler Banks; sister, Annette Lawton (Jim); and niece Kristi Lawton.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all who helped in Glenn’s care for the last six years:   Riverside Adult Care Director, Patty, and her entire staff who helped him to maintain being active in the first years of his care;  Miss Cheryl for her devoted care at home; the Mennowood staff, especially the Comfort Cove staff for their genuine kindness, support, and love for Glenn these last eight months; a sincere appreciation to Noel of Active Daily Living Care for his compassion, dedication, and excellence in Glenn’s care; and Grace Hospice and staff for their superb comfort care and support through this difficult time.

A graveside service, officiated by Rev. F.H. Teague, will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.
