Gene is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59+ years, Barbara; two exceptional sons, Rick (Hollie) and Bruce; six grandchildren, Ashley, Kirstin, Cassie, Corbin, Taylor, and Seth; three great-granddaughters Brianna, Madison, and Miya, who all lovingly called him “Gramps”; two sisters, three brothers. Nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends plus his four very special friends, his dogs, Toby, Jake, Bentley, and Princess. His family was a constant source of love, pride, and joy to him.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 3 at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.

“A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands to rest. God broke our hearts just to prove to us, he only takes the best!” The family has many, many memories that they will treasure forever. Memories pressed between the pages of our minds.  Gene was so loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
