Gary David Jarrett

Gary David Jarrett, 67, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2022.  He was a native of Charleston, West Virginia but, he grew up in Hampton, VA.  Gary graduated from Bethel High School in 1973 where he avidly played football and baseball. He went on to play in college at Ferrum College and East Tennessee State University, as the center in the offensive line (football) and catcher (baseball).  He spent most of his adult career in electrical sales.

Gary was a family man and will be remembered for his jokester personality, good sense of humor, kindness, and friendliness to anyone he ever spoke to. He loved watching sports every day of the week, although NASCAR on Sundays was his favorite pastime. He was passionate about deer hunting in the mountains of West Virginia. Later in life, his most adored pastime was having tea parties, playing princess, and veterinary hospital with his 5-year-old granddaughter whom he loved more than himself.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Jarrett. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Digna Jarrett; daughter, Sheryl Flordeliz (Andrew); granddaughter Aria; mother, Norma Lee Jarrett; sister, Linda Vaillancourt (Larry); and brother, Larry Jarrett (Deborah).  He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
