Lena Eunice “Nancy” Allen White

Lena Eunice “Nancy” Allen White, of Newport News, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, at Walter Reed Convalescent Center in Gloucester. She was born in Person County, North Carolina, the daughter of Charlie David Allen and Bessie Stephens Allen.
Nancy graduated from Newport News High School with honors in the top ten of her graduating class. After high school, she worked as a supervisor of telephone operators at C&P Telephone Company in Newport News. She left her job in 1956 to raise her family of six children. Nancy enjoyed long walks, beautiful flowers, her church family at North Riverside Baptist Church, and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Bruce White, her parents, siblings, Hugh Allen, Irma Watson, Robert Allen, Claude Allen, and Wilma Hartmangruber, son-in-law, Jimmy Richardson,

Nancy is survived by four daughters, Carol Richardson of Newport News, Nancy Arshan (Mannis) of Williamsburg, Sharon White of North Carolina, Anita Baines of Newport News; two sons, Gary White and Mark White of Newport News; grandchildren, Kathy Pace (Chris) of New Jersey, Jay Richardson and Ric Richardson (Kelly), Stephanie Kosler, Kevin Baines, Jennifer Wilks (Mike) all of Newport News, Chris Kosler (Deanna) of Seaford, Adrienne Heath of Yorktown, Lindsey Joyce and Lesley Joyce both of Florida, Lauren Joyce of Arizona, and Jared White of Hampton; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katie Weiss of Newport News and Shirley House of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 16 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 17 at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
