Eleanora Crompton Riley

Eleanora Crompton Riley departed this earth on Monday, July 25, 2022. She was born in Stonington, Connecticut on September 12, 1930, to the late Frank Vincent Crompton and Marie Myra Miller.

In her early years, Eleanora studied ballet and it was the foundation for a lifelong career in dance and fitness. She owned and operated the Eleanora Riley Dance Studio for many years, taught ballroom, and later opened The Body Shop in Williamsburg, a women’s aerobics studio. In later years, she taught senior aerobics including senior chair aerobics classes that were televised on a local station.

She was preceded in death by her husband Command Sergeant Major Wilfred H. Riley, US Army Retired, daughter Victoria Lynn Bryant, daughter Colleen Marie Riley, and great-grandson Mark Miller. Eleanora is survived by her daughter Shannon Riley Smith (Terry), sons Sean Vincent Riley, and Kerry Patrick Riley (Jennifer), and devoted companion Ray McCarthy. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

There will be a funeral mass service for Eleanora at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11:00, and a private burial at Peninsula Memorial Park.  Eleanora’s family would like to express our gratitude to Ray and his family for their love and devotion to our Mother during her final years.
