Douglas Noel Brammer

Douglas Noel Brammer, 80, of Newport News, VA, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 with family by his side. Born April 3, 1941 in Roanoke, VA, he would go on to marry his high school sweetheart, Sylvia, in 1962. Doug played guitar in a band as a teenager, and worked in sales until joining the United States Army. Afterward, in 1978, he brought his family to settle in Newport News. Doug had a long career in sales and management, and loved his work. He enjoyed golf, cruise trips, and traveling whenever possible. He was upbeat, easy going, and always had a good one-liner to make people smile. He was beloved by friends and family alike, and is remembered as a man of integrity with a kind heart and positive attitude. Doug was devoted to his faith and family. He set an example as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a faithful Catholic.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Emma Brammer, and brothers, Kenneth and Richard Brammer.  He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Michael Brammer; son Scott Brammer; daughter Jennifer Stout, son-in-law Michael Stout; grandsons Chris Stout and his wife Serinia, Josh Stout, and Zach Stout; great-grandchildren Carter, Ezekiel, and Noella; brother Rob Brammer; and many nieces and nephews. 

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (100 Harpersville Rd, Newport News, VA 23601), with family visitation at 11:00am. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
