Darrlyn Koch Reynolds

Darrlyn Koch Reynolds, 72, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.  She was a native of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, and had been a resident of Newport News, Virginia for 43 years.  Darrlyn was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and William & Mary where she obtained her MBA.  She had a long career of 30 years in real estate, specializing in new home sales. She also had her own machine shop and taught aerobics, and was a certified Tae Chi instructor.

Darrlyn loved to travel, visiting over 10 countries.  She was an avid reader and was involved in so many activities over the years, it’s challenging to recall them.  She rarely sat still.  Darrlyn was the world’s best grandmother, regularly taking her grandchildren on adventures.  With her partner Bill by her side, they routinely explored the area even taking turns on surprise day trips.  Darrlyn was one of a kind and will be missed beyond measure.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Anne Koch, and her husband, Robert E. Reynolds, Sr.   Darrlyn is survived by her daughter, Dana Harrington (John); three grandchildren, Tyler Schindel, Rylee Schindel, and Lyra Harrington; and brother, Leonard Koch, Jr.

The family will be celebrating her life by a private gathering, just the way she requested.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 4110,  Glen Allen, VA 23058 (www.donate3.cancer.org).

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

Darrlyn will be missed. The information that poured out of her was hard to keep up with. She was so knowledgeable on so many subjects. Some of us called her “Oh wise one!” Can’t believe she is gone. It seemed so sudden. God be with her family!

Darrlyn, a friend. Sorry she suffered before passing. Haven’t spoke with her in a couple of years and am shocked she was so ill. Will miss seeing her at Yorktown concerts.

I met Darryln several years ago when she became a facilitator for the Diabetes Self-Management Program. She was always my go to facilitator for workshops at the Senior Center. She was so knowledgeable about everything and taught me so much about the disease. Such a kind and caring person who will be missed by all that knew her. My sincerest condolences to the family.

Bill: Darrlyn was an intelligent and knowledgeable person who loved life and all it had to offer. I had hoped to spend many years with her as we moved to Warwick Forest in the same month but, alas, her illness was always in the way and it was hard to watch her as she dealt with such devastating pain. She will be sorely missed by many. With deepest sympathy, I offer my condolences to her family.
