Daniel Shane Brookman

Daniel Shane Brookman passed away on April 24, 2022, at his home in Seaford, Virginia. Born June 19, 1973, Shane lived most of his life in Newport News, with a year after college spent in Lake Tahoe, California. Since 2016, he has resided in Seaford with his Mom and Stepdad, Debbie and Ken Ogren, who are deeply saddened by his passing.

Shane’s family, who all deeply mourn his passing, are Dad and Stepmom, Carl Sr. and Kay Brookman; children Parker and Hayden Brookman; brothers Carl Jr. (Ashley), Matthew (Nikki), and Blake (Sophanny) Brookman; his nephews Coy and Koa Brookman; Ginger (Sean) Kennison, Tom Ogren, Seth Reeves and Sarah Blossom his step-siblings; and his aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved dearly. His cousin Stacey Godsey was like his sister.

Shane graduated from Menchville High School, attended Campbell University, and graduated from East Carolina University. The many friends he made during his high school and college years have been life-long friends of his and his brother Carl. They have gotten together in Lake Tahoe, Outer Banks, Florida, Snowshoe, and at home many times during the past 25 years and have kept in close contact with each other. Jake, Rich, Bob, Chris P., Chris W., Joseph, Jeff, Adam, Trevor, and many others have always been good friends, had each other’s backs, and have offered support in each other’s life events. Shane’s love for his children, his family, and his friends was his greatest attribute and he was loved dearly by us all. We will miss him and his smile every day.

Since 2004 Shane has been Vice-President of Family Centered Resources, his family’s business where he worked with his mother and brother Blake. The FCR clients and employees are saddened by his passing as they loved and admired him as a friend and “boss.”

I am deeply saddened at the passing of Shane. I will always remember his smile and his ponytail; always very neatly done. I watched him play soccer with my son Joseph Cantu . When they got together it meant “ TROUBLE “”” as youngsters!!! lol but I did love him too.
My sincere deepest condolences to the family.

I still can’t believe this. Life is gone in the blink of an eye. I don’t think I can ever remember seeing him without a smile on his face. I’m sitting here thinking about so many good times we all had together over the last 35 years. He will definitely be missed.

I’ve known Shane for 30 years, but when I started dating his brother, Carl 3 years ago, Shane embraced me immediately as family…his sis. He delighted in our happiness and love. He loved all of us so hard. Truly heartbreaking and such a loss to lose your physical spirit. We will honor you, Shane, everyday by delighting in life’s beauty, joy, and wonder. You will forever live in my heart and I welcome you into my dreams. Rest in light and love.
