Cole Wyman Slusher

Cole Wyman Slusher, 23, of Newport News, passed away at Riverside Regional Medical Center on Sunday, December 4, 2022, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday, November 29.

Cole was born on July 11, 1999, in Newport News to Aaron and Keli (Mingin) Slusher. He attended schools in Newport News and York County and graduated from Menchville High School in 2017. He then went on to work in landscaping.

Cole was a very active person and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trips to the mountains and going to the beach. Cole played multiple sports growing up but found his greatest talent playing lacrosse. From the time he could walk, he loved going fast. His adventures went from skateboarding to driving go-karts, to four-wheelers, ATVs and cars. He was also a gifted artist and liked to build things.

Cole had a contagious smile and baby blue eyes that would melt your heart. He was known for making friends wherever he went and was a stranger to no one. Cole was always helping others and loved his family and friends with his whole heart. He will be greatly missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Aaron and Keli, and his sister Kailen Slusher, also of Newport News. Cole will also be remembered by his paternal grandparents, Gary and Wanda Slusher of Newport News; his maternal grandparents, Angee and Wayne Torrence of Yorktown and Joe and Rhonda Mingin of Angier, NC; and his maternal great grandmother, Jean Carawan of Smithfield, VA. He is also survived by his godmother, Nikki Williams of Raleigh, NC; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends; his three best friends since childhood, Austin, Immanuel and Seth; and the family pit bull, Onnie.

A private Celebration of Life will be held.

Cole, you made us laugh a lot. Your best will be at the campground needing your bike tire pumped up. Knocking on the camper door and yelling, “Oh, Uncle Grinch. I need some help.” That Uncle Grinch stuck for a while! We love you and will look out after your mom and dad.
