Betty Jo Wilson, 85, of Newport News departed this earth to be with her Savior on September 14, 2021. A devoted wife, mother, and “JoJo,” she brought joy to others and selflessly sought to care for all those who crossed her path.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Ruby Boothe, brothers John and Dallas Boothe, and husbands Charles Johnson and Bill Walker. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Wilson; sister, Brenda Drake (C.E.); brother Michael Boothe (Tina); daughter Deborah Birkl; son Charles G. Johnson; grandchildren Christopher Birkl (Alyson), Morinda Williams (Edward), Jared Birkl (Emily), and Danielle; and great-grandchildren Charlie, Mara, Izzy, Odin, and Cecilia.

A celebration of life will be held at Temple Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 21 at 2:00 PM, with visitation, beforehand beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place immediately after the service at Hampton Memorial Gardens. The CDC highly recommends masks for inside gatherings.
