Betty Ann Langdon

Betty Ann Langdon, of Hampton, VA passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on December 17, 2021.   Betty Ann was born May 23, 1940, in Johnston County, NC to C.E. and Mertice Stephenson West. She was a resident of Hampton since 1958.  Betty Ann loved making the world around her a more beautiful place.  She initially fulfilled this passion with interior decorating which included working and traveling with Home Interiors. Betty Ann also worked at Newport News Waterworks for more than 20 years. She retired as a Customer Service Supervisor in 2002.  After retirement she continued her passion with gardening; her yard was her “paradise”.

A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Betty Ann is survived by her sons Timothy Langdon (Melanie), and Craig Langdon; grandchildren Katie Bell (Keenan), Nikki Campbell (Joey), and Stephanie Langdon (Cody Thomas); great-grandchildren Summer, Elijah, and Chloe; sister Faye Peters, numerous nieces, nephews and many life-long friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Lynwood West and Donnie West.  

Betty Ann’s family would like to thank the staff at The Hidenwood Retirement Community for their care and compassion during her stay there.

A memorial service will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at noon.  The family will receive friends following the service.  The CDC highly recommends masks for inside gatherings.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty Ann’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org/).

    Tim I am sorry for the loss of your mom. There will be difficult days ahead of you, but know that she is now safe from all sorrow, pain. God has her now and she is being taken well care of in Heaven.
