Anthony “Todd” Oakes

Anthony “Todd” Oakes, a beloved husband, passed away on October 8, 2021, at the age of 56. He was a Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School Graduate and was a designer with 37 years of experience. Todd enjoyed many sports throughout his life including softball, skiing, and golfing. He was a very skilled pool player, a member of the APA, and his team, The Nobodies, won the Vegas Cup at Breakaway, taking them to Las Vegas to play in 2010. Todd was a fan of the Seattle Seahawks. He enjoyed the OBX and hoped to retire to Manteo.

Todd was preceded in rest by his parents, Carolyn Rea Bailey and Aubrey “Bob” Oakes. He is survived by his wife, Beth, precious dog, “Meg”; his beloved Aunts Detra (Mike), Gaynell, Brenda, Linda (Richard); beloved cousins Krystal, Tessy, and Scott; in-laws, Joe and Brenda Batten, Jeff and Tiffany Batten; and brothers of the heart, Geoff Gore, Eric Nobles, Tracy Ward, Chuck Forrester, Jim Faulks, and Dave Epperly.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 11 at 4:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Virginia, with a funeral service following at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The CDC highly recommends masks for inside gatherings.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots (https://www.toysfortots.org/) or the Peninsula SPCA (https://peninsulaspca.org/).

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.
