Alma Annalue Wyatt
Alma Annalue Wyatt passed away on May 12, 2021. She was a Halloween baby, born October 31, 1936, in Parsons, WV. At a young age, she worked as an executive secretary in Washington DC including the Navy Department, as well as other agencies. Her most important job was being a wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.
Alma worked as a church visitor and served her Lord. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Agnes Carmines Circle, and held various positions at church and the district level. Alma loved her Wesley Fellowship Sunday School class.
She was a proud member of The Daughters of Rebekah at a young age and a member of Classic Cruisers Car Club, Antique Automobile Club of America, and Historic Virginia Peninsula Region Car Club. Alma always loved riding in the 57 Chevy Bel Air with John.
She was born to William Claude McDonald and Alma Crosten McDonald and she was very proud to have been named after her mother. Alma married the love of her life, John Allen Wyatt in Winchester, VA at First United Methodist Church on June 22, 1975.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son, Mark Daniel Wyatt and her first husband, Roy Vern Shaffer. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John Wyatt; son, Jon Shaffer; daughters, Cherryll Daoud, Catherine Murdock, and Caroline Thompson; six grandsons; five granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 16 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Poquoson with interment following at 3:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park. Guests are required to wear masks and keep their social distance.
