It Takes a Family to Comfort a Family
Alice Leona Hays Maguire
Alice Leona Hays Maguire passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Owen William Maguire; her daughter, Ellyn Rubczak; and two grandchildren. Alice was one of 19 children born of the late Henry Hays and Mary Spence Hays. She is survived by five children, Michael, Joseph, Jennifer and Alan Maguire and Linda Bennett; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mrs. Lois Obrien.
In the course of her 90 years, Alice was one of the kindest, gentlest persons imaginable. A registered nurse, Alice was always a loving caregiver who welcomed everyone in her home. She was exceptionally humble, compassionate, and selfless, always focusing on supporting and helping others. She served in the nursery at Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member for many years. She cared for friends and neighbors during times of illness. Alice loved music and instilled that love in all her family. She also enjoyed painting, crocheting, and many other crafts and was an excellent seamstress. Alice will be dearly remembered and missed but remains forever in our hearts.
