Horace Allen Asby, Sr., 89, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born May 6, 1936, in Aurora, NC, to the late John Wiley and Josephine Asby. He worked at Newport News Shipbuilding for over 40 years before his retirement.
Horace and his wife were of strong faith and had a tremendous devotion to their church and church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Wiley, Russell, Howard, and Malcolm Asby.
Leaving behind to honor and cherish his life and memories are his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Georgia Asby; his son Horace Allen Asby, Jr. (Larren); his grandsons Christopher Beacham (Elizabeth), Jacob Beacham (Sara), Logan Asby; two great-grandchildren Blake and Macie Beacham; sister Sybil Cutler; brothers William and Curtis Asby; and many loving family members and friends.
The family will have a visitation for family and friends on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Peninsula Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will begin at 12:00 PM. Officiating the service is Rev. Michael Coombs. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
